PRINCIPLES

With our eyes we shun,

With our minds we discern,

With our lips we declare,

With our words we define.

We thought we controlled our will,

The will to walk our words,

The words we thought we cast in stone,

The stone now riddled with cracks.

Our minds are weak,

Our bodies are weak,

Our words we must hold fast,

In principle and in heart.

TURN UP THE MUSIC

Turn up the music, turn up the sound,

Turn up the beat, turn up the wave,

Electro, Hip, Funk, rock n roll up the volume,

Turn up the bass, we never want to leave.

Not when our hearts are getting lifted,

Not when our smiles light up the sky,

When our minds dance to the beat,

When the artist sings with our lips.

When our problems are not part of us,

When our tears sparkle in the light,

Like pearls rolling down vibrant faces,

And we two step on a new world.

And when the music is over,

And our faces mask with sad stares,

Our hearts still hold on to the fading sound,

Our fingers will always tap to the beat.

DREAMS

I have dreams that engulf my reality,

So real I walk and talk in them,

I laugh and smile at the scenes,

And feel pain when I fall and bruise,

Dreams that need my eyes open,

To see the path that forms before me,

A map drawn from my heart,

With roads and inroads that branch at will,

And yet I never seem to stumble on my next step,

Or wish I had followed the road on my left,

Nor do I fear when my vision is blocked by a turn,

I’ll turn when I reach the bend,

I’ll not miss my step and fall before I see what’s beyond the bend,

Maybe the path will not split again,

And loop to where I stand,

Maybe the path will split again,

And I get to enjoy the ride,

Of walking the unknown with surety,

Not afraid that I was once told of the twists ahead,

By those who decided they needed to wake from the dream.

I WILL FAIL NOT

I failed this once, this one moment,

When the face of adversity was grim,

And its eyes glared with deceit,

To blur my vision that was my path,

And I stumbled on my weak feet.

I failed this once, this one moment,

When I saw my glass was half empty,

When I believed the finish line was short of my breath,

When the ground seemed to pull me from the clouds,

And I stumbled on my weak feet.

I will fail not, not this one moment,

Not when the crowd is cheering my name,

Not when the prize is all I can see,

Not when these very words are my strength,

And I will stand on my strong feet.

ALREADY WRITTEN

 The script is written,

With hands we cannot reach,

In fine writing and priceless ink,

On blotless paper that words won’t blink,

Drawing and shaping words that we would never think.

That our eyes won’t see from a glance or stare,

Our minds read not what is bare,

Letters revealing words that were already there,

For we blinded our sight yet we claim to care.

The script is written,

On pages that we cannot turn,

To reveal chapters with stories to come,

Of visions and dreams to be done,

The very hope we build upon.

HER SONG, HE SINGS

She’s all on me, all over me,

She wears me, my breathe her air,

My thoughts her feel, my eyes her sight,

My mouth her voice, my lips her taste,

My hands her touch, my fingers her stroke,

When I called her, she was my name.

Her hair spread on my head,

Her ears is all I can hear,

Her slender legs walk me,

Her gentle arms wield my strength,

When she called me, I was her name,

I’m all on her, all over her.

NATURE’S TEARS

Can the streak of light still pierce the dark clouds?

Can the brightness still light up the darkness?

To reflect the radiance of the beauty hidden,

To awaken the vibrancy and colorful vastness.

Back when the trees swayed and danced in the wind,

Back when the gushing sounds of the river’s waters sang the flow,

Back when the soil was red and soft and worms knew where to hide,

Back when the rains soaked wet and tasted of purity,

Back when nature’s harmony was peace and tranquil.

But we noticed not the dance of the trees,

Nor heard the sounds of the river’s flow,

Nor enjoyed the feel of the soft red soil,

Nor tasted and quenched our thirst with the rain’s pure drops,

And we disrupted the harmony and were at war with nature.

Do we not dance to the bird’s songs?

Do we not enjoy the powerful fast ride of the horse?

Do we not tell tales of the mighty roar of the lion?

Do we not imitate the fish and enjoy the warm oceans?

So the rains dried and clouds scattered,

A dreary sight of dry rivers beds spotted with smooth edged rocks,

And cracks ran across the land, the soil swept by the dry winds as dust,

The sun shone with hatred and its rays browned the green grass,

A proof of selfish hearts and destructive greed.

A NIGHT OUT

Smiles and winks,

You look good lil’ miss,

Dance to the hits,

You move well with the beats,

Smiles and winks,

Can I come closer to your seat?

Hi and hugs,

Your scent so smooth and sweet,

My heart pounds and beats,

You turned red on your face and cheeks,

Hi and hugs,

You’re already worth a risk.

Hold and kiss,

Your lips taste so sweet,

Who turned on the heat?

We on the edge of our seats,

Hold and kiss,

I would give all for this.

Hugs and tears,

I don’t want to see you disappear,

This moment right here,

Should last for years,

Hugs and tears,

Shouldn’t be how it ends my dear.

BEHIND THE SMILE

Behind the smile, behind the bright eyes,

In open doors, along crowded streets,

Under the bright sun, the sparkling stars, the full moon,

Your heart longs, the memories strumming every heartbeat.

Your body aches, for his warm arms,

For his heart’s pound, for his warm breath,

That sends shivers in your ear,

To hear his sweet voice of his assuring love.

You wear a cute smile, that assures the crowd,

They envy your part, in the dark play,

With a deceitful stage, that shows of sadness untold,

That refrains your eyes from the tears that would drown the smile.

LOVE WITHIN

The sky glows light blue,

The clouds shape up to please you,

The rain drops sparkle and kiss you,

Your face soaks in the love.

The wind blows and hugs you,

The trees sway and dance with you,

The breeze tries to carry you,

The joy sweeps and fills you.

Your heart pounds within you,

Your hands tremble with the fear in you,

Your legs weaken they can’t hold you,

The warm love overwhelms you.
